Winery facelift

08.04.2010

With things slowing down slightly in the vineyard over the summer, we are taking the opportunity to give the winery a facelift. The building that holds the winery was originally a pole barn with a metal shell.
After super-insulating and reinforcing the building, adding on a cellar and an addition, it was time [...]

What’s going on in the vineyard

07.29.2010

We’re about 2 weeks behind this year due to the long, cool spring, but the vines and berries look great so far! Right now our energy is directed at tucking vines into catch wires to protect them from wind and spray damage, watering, and removing leaves to allow more sunlight into the fruit.
The [...]

Vine Diary: May 9th, 2010

05.20.2010

It’s been a cool spring so far, and up until the last few days, temperatures have been below 60 degrees. Growth has been slow but steady. Springtime in the vineyard

04.15.2010

After several weeks of rain, the sun is finally out and the vines are soaking it in. We had budbreak April 13th on one of the Chardonnay vines.

The remaining varieties are quite a ways behind the Chardonnay, but with warm weather in the forecast, we’re expecting everything to burst in the [...]

Videos on Tasting

04.14.2010

I wanted to post two videos on tasting. The first is our very own incredibly off-the-cuff video that the Colter’s Creek crew was put on the spot to produce. I did some editing to give an idea of how much fun we were having and also how gracious and receptive everyone was to my last [...]

Little Bites

04.02.2010

Beth Mort
I love having appetizers and wine and enjoy a variety of smaller plates paired with wines. I also really like the idea that wine can and should be enjoyed not just with large and complicated meals but also alongside lighter or more singular foods. Sometimes, however, it can be challenging not to get overwhelmed [...]

More Bottling and More Tasting

03.31.2010

Beth Mort
I actually got to go to the winery over the weekend and finally help bottle! This is great for me because I recently just finished up graduate school and so it felt like a little vacation. The rest of the family – Ma and Pa Sanborn – came out to help also so the [...]
