The Naked Truth

03.02.2012

Lately, our customers have been asking us a lot about wine trends; in particular, about naked Chardonnay. Since we have been playing around with unoaked Chardonnay in the winery, I figured this was a perfect topic for a blog post.
Naked Chardonnay is unoaked Chardonnay. Traditionally in the States, Chardonnay is either fermented and/or [...]

Italian Wedding Soup

02.07.2012

I was craving a brothy, hearty, soup and this did the trick! Just got this month’s Food & Wine magazine – which includes some nice quick meals among other fantastic recipes. This is one of the quick ones and it was so yummy!
Since I am vegetarian (this is Beth writing) I used my mom’s [...]

Winter Tart

01.25.2012

Every time I visit my friend Kristi Fountain at her home, what is intended to be a craft day usually digresses into drinking wine and looking at cookbooks.  Hours go by and we are lucky if we accomplish anything beside planning out meals for a lifetime. She spoils me and cooks the most amazing lunches [...]

2012, A New Vintage

01.19.2012

What with the lateness of harvest this year, we rolled directly from pressing grapes into the hustle and bustle of the holidays. We now find ourselves back at a normal pace, watching the vineyard tuck deep into a well deserved sleep while preparing this year’s whites and last year’s reds for bottling.

Bringing her home……

10.25.2011

Just take a nip off the top…

08.18.2011

We’ve finally hit verasion in the vineyard, the time in which the grapes start to turn color and ripen. Our Tempranillo is the first to turn, and we’re predicting it will be ready to pick in 4 weeks. Everything else is a little behind, but we expect things to really start happening in [...]

With the release of our new wines this spring, bearing our recently renovated label, a lot of people have been asking, “Who does your labels?”  We’ve been lucky to have our great friend, artist Joan Giannecchini, work with us in designing a label that reflects both the landscape and history of our area.  Joan is [...]

This little piggy went to market…

05.13.2011

It’s getting to be the time of year for fresh produce, fresh cut flowers, and warm summer mornings in the local farmer’s markets! This year, we will be at both the Moscow and Lewiston markets, pouring and selling our favorite wines.
The Lewiston market is held Wednesdays from 3-6pm, June through October. The market [...]

Going Green

05.07.2011

Though not quite yet on the road to becoming an organic vineyard, we are taking steps towards reducing our herbicide usage to battle weeds in the vineyard. Our newest tractor implement? The Weed Badger. This thing is no joke! It mechanically removes weeds from the vine rows, which beats both having [...]
